The New England Association of Schools and Colleges commends Franklin Academy for creating an academic program and residential community that completely matches its mission.

We have the largest population of students with NLD and Aspergers of any high school, and our students come to us from twenty-five different states.

There is one full-time professional educator for every two students on campus.

We provide an incomparable 24/7 boarding school venue that is a prerequisite for improving social skills. Within our safe community, every student feels connected, understood, and supported.

The academic program is especially designed for students who exhibit an auditory learning style preference, and the curriculum emphasizes mastery of skill sets that target important academic and life tasks.

Our unique team approach ensures that each student receives focused programming throughout the academic day, in the evening, and during weekends from a small cadre of seven professionals who design and implement the academic, social/emotional, and residential program for their group of students.

Our students identify with each other and enjoy the solidarity of belonging to a natural peer group.

Each underclassman lives in a single occupancy dormitory room; seniors preparing for the transition to college typically live in double occupancy rooms

No other group of teachers has logged as many hours with NLD and Aspergers students as the Franklin Academy faculty.

Continuous professional development and thoughtful innovation are important institutional priorities.

Our staffing model provides comprehensive student-support staff by including a counselor, a learning specialist, and a residential dean on each team. These professionals are overseen by an administrative team that includes a full-time Clinical Director, Educational Director, and Residential Director. Student support also includes a consulting physician, a consulting psychiatrist, a full-time Clinical Director, a team of counselors, a speech and language pathologist, a college counselor, and our fully staffed Health Center.

The emphasis is on individual attention with classes ranging from six to eight students.

We deliberately structure the academic day, the weekends, and the school year to give our students the time they need to develop and practice important life skills while maintaining focus and coping with change.

The school sponsors an ambitious off-campus travel program during mini-terms called intersessions and over the summer.

Franklin Academy graduates have been accepted at more than 100 different colleges and universities. |

Our program includes an optional session during July, called Summer Sojourn, that is open to all students with NLD and Aspergers, whether they attend Franklin Academy or not, who meet our admissions criteria. |

- We are developing the Franklin Learning Institute (FLI), a post-secondary option for young adults of college age to advance their education academically and socially.
- We are beginning the Franklin Evaluation Center (FEC) to provide students with comprehensive testing and evaluation.
- We are working with several research facilities to conduct on-going research that focuses on students with NLD and Asperger’s Syndrome in order to support new initiatives.
