The Class of 2010

THE 2009-10 ACADEMIC YEAR

Franklin Academy opened the year with 71 students enrolled and ended the year with 78 students – a reflection of better retention of underclassmen and the school’s growing reputation. In response to Franklin Academy’s two-year interim accreditation report, submitted to the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in early November, NEASC responded by stating: “The Commission commends the Academy for responding to all recommendations, including the major recommendations, in thoughtful and thorough ways. While maintaining its commitment to a much-underserved student population, the Academy has acted decisively in all areas suggested by the Visiting Committee. Clearly, the Academy is on a carefully considered upward path and is proceeding with ambition and accountability.” At the end of a productive and satisfying year, we graduated a distinguished senior class, numbering 21 students – 13 young men and 8 young women. What follows are the book awards, certificates, faculty and senior speeches, and diplomas presented at graduation.
